Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Smacks homer Friday

He was called up from Triple-A Columbus last week

Brayan Rocchio got the call to the majors last week and has made the most of his opportunity. The 26-year-old outfielder has started all three games for the Guardians and is 4-for-11 with a home run and two RBIs.

Rocchio's home run came in the Guardians' 6-5 win over the Royals on Friday night.

It was a solo shot off Royals starter Brady Singer that gave the Guardians a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Rocchio also made a nice catch in the outfield in the second inning, helping the Guardians preserve their early lead.

Rocchio is a native of Venezuela and was signed by the Guardians as an international free agent in 2015. He has spent the past seven seasons in the minors, but he is finally getting his chance to show what he can do in the majors.

Rocchio is a versatile player who can play all three outfield positions. He is also a good hitter with a career batting average of .280 in the minors. He is expected to get more playing time for the Guardians in the coming weeks as they try to make a push for a playoff spot.
