Caitlin Clark Goes No. 1 to Indiana Fever in 2024 WNBA Draft

Fever Make Bold Move in Rebuilding Process

Clark Poised to Bring Excitement to Indiana

NEW YORK, April 15 (Reuters) - The Indiana Fever made a bold move in their rebuilding process on Saturday, selecting sharpshooter Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Clark, the record-breaking face of women's college basketball, brings a wealth of experience and excitement to the Fever. The Iowa Hawkeye star has shattered numerous NCAA records during her collegiate career, showcasing her exceptional scoring ability and playmaking skills.

The Fever, who finished with the worst record in the WNBA last season, are hoping that Clark can be a cornerstone piece in their turnaround. The Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 90-87 on Sunday, their first victory since June 19, 2022.

"Caitlin Clark is a special talent," said Fever general manager Tamika Catchings. "She has a unique combination of size, athleticism, and shooting ability. We believe she can be a franchise-changing player for us."

Clark, who is 6'1" with a 6'9" wingspan, has averaged over 20 points per game in each of her three seasons at Iowa. She is also a gifted passer, averaging over 6 assists per game. Clark's ability to score from all over the court, including from deep, will make her a dangerous weapon for the Fever.

The Fever are hoping that Clark can bring the same success to the WNBA that she has enjoyed in college. If she can, it will be a major boost for the franchise and its fans.
